Claim a square, pay the team, get confirmed
How buying a square works in Football Squares: your squares are held while you pay, and the admin can fix a payment that doesn't match.
In Football Squares, a family pays the team directly, and a team admin confirms the payment. The app's job is to make those two steps hard to get wrong.
Claiming holds your squares
Tap the squares you want and claim them. They turn amber and show as pending, which means they're yours to pay for and nobody else can take them.
- Two people can't end up with the same square. If someone claimed it a moment before you, you're told it was grabbed just before you.
- The pay button opens your payment app with the team, the amount and your square names already filled in.
- Your squares stay pending until an admin confirms the payment.
The admin's side
Pending payments sit in one list. Each has two buttons: Confirm and Release.
Confirm opens a counter set to the number of squares claimed, because the amount that arrives doesn't always match.
- Paid for fewer? Count down. The squares picked last are released first, or the admin taps the specific ones to drop.
- Paid for more? Count up. The extra squares are picked at random from what's open.
- Confirming locks the squares and sends the member an email that says "You're locked in."
Release puts a claim back on the board. The member gets an email titled "Your squares slipped back onto the board", and it's kind about it: "Nothing was charged, nothing was lost, and nobody's mad."
If a member cancels their own claim, nothing is sent. They already know.
Who to ask about a payment
Each board has a setting for who payment questions go to, with a name and a phone number. Leave it blank and questions go to the board's admins.
