Winnings nobody collects go to the team after 60 days
Winners choose to donate or collect. Four reminders go out over a month, and a prize still unclaimed at 60 days goes to the team.
Every squares pool has the same loose end: somebody wins, never answers, and the treasurer carries that prize on a sticky note until June. Football Squares closes it.
Donate first, collect second
When you win, the big button says "Donate it to the team." Collecting is right there too, as the second choice. It's a fundraiser, so the default leans toward the team, and nobody has to hunt for the other option.
Four reminders, then the rule
If a winner hasn't chosen:
- A reminder goes out 7, 14, 21 and 28 days after the win. One of them says "Your money is getting lonely."
- The last one spells out the rule: uncollected winnings go to the team 60 days after the win.
- At 60 days, a prize that's still unclaimed is marked donated, and the winner and the board's admins are both told.
Nothing moves on its own before that. A win where the member already tapped collect is never touched, no matter how long the team takes to pay it out.
Who it never applies to
- A cash player the admin manages, since they aren't getting the emails.
- Anyone the app has no working email for.
- A square nobody bought. That prize was the team's already.
If a household member wins, the reminders go to whoever holds the login, worded for the person who won.
The admin's morning email
Admins get a digest of payments waiting to be confirmed, once a day, and only on days when something is actually waiting. A claim that has been sitting for three days or more is flagged. The email says so itself: "You only get this on days something is pending."
Board email goes to the board's own admins. A team's business stays with the team.
